What is Clipboardly?
Clipboardly is a fast, private clipboard manager for Mac. It keeps your clipboard history (text, links, images, screenshots, code and more) so you can search it and paste it again later, organized into boards you create.
How do I see my clipboard history on a Mac?
macOS Tahoe keeps a short clipboard history in Spotlight: press ⌘Space, then ⌘4. It keeps items for up to 7 days and has no pinning or boards. With Clipboardly, press ⌘⇧V in any app to search everything you have copied, for as long as you choose to keep it.
Is Clipboardly better than the clipboard history built into macOS Tahoe?
Tahoe’s Spotlight clipboard history is fine for recent copies. Clipboardly adds what it lacks: clips kept as long as you want, pinned and PIN-locked clips, boards per project, 12 automatic clip types, a menu bar panel and iCloud Sync.
Is Clipboardly free?
Yes. Clipboardly is a free clipboard manager for Mac. Download it free from clipboardly.app and use it on any Mac running macOS 10.15 or later, Apple Silicon or Intel.
How is Clipboardly different from Maccy, Paste or Raycast?
Maccy is a free, minimal clipboard history. Paste focuses on syncing across Mac, iPhone and iPad. Raycast is a launcher with clipboard history as one feature. Clipboardly is Mac-only and built around boards: pick an active board and everything you copy is saved there automatically.
What's an active board?
The board your new clips are saved to. Create a board for what you're working on, like "GTM", select it, and everything you copy goes there until you pick another one. The active board is shown in green at the top of the sidebar.
How do I open Quick Paste?
Press ⌘⇧V in any app. Search, press Return, and the clip is pasted where your cursor is. Clipboardly asks for Accessibility permission the first time so it can paste into other apps.
Can I stop it from saving for a while?
Yes. Click Pause in the app or the menu bar panel. Nothing you copy is saved until you click Resume.
How do locked clips work?
Lock any clip and it's hidden behind a 4-digit PIN. You can change or remove the PIN in Settings.
Does it sync?
Yes. iCloud Sync is managed through your own iCloud account.
How long are clips kept?
As long as you want. Choose how long to keep clips in Settings; the default is forever.
Which Macs does it run on?
Macs running macOS 10.15 Catalina or later. It runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel.
Is there an iPhone or iPad app?
No. Clipboardly is built for the Mac.
How do I install it?
Download the .dmg, open it, and drag Clipboardly into your Applications folder.
Stop copying things twice.
